Animated Flying Electrons: Using Time-Lapse Videos to Explain Oxidation and Reduction in Chemical Reactions

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Use of the Media Commons enabled the creation of tutorials that help students understand processes difficult to conceptualize. This presentation will show a tutorial demonstrating a chemical process and show the necessary collaboration among faculty, instructional designers, and instructional media personnel to create meaningful instructional aids. The presenters will discuss their process and best practices. Simple animation was used to illustrate transfer of funds between accounts. Transfer of electrons follows a similar pattern, resulting in oxidation/reduction reactions. Time-lapse videography of chemical reactions will be shown to illustrate how this difficult concept can be related to the FLYING ELECTRONS.
